The conference took place at the Clarion Congress Hotel in Ostrava from 28th to 31st January. In addition to the topics from intensive and emergency medicine, participants could hear updates from cardiology, neurology, hematology, immunology, surgery or palliative medicine. The programme also included the 22nd Symposium "Pediatric intensive care up to date", the Day of young intensivists, as well as the 12th PG course for nurses in intensive care. The topics were always covered by renowned experts in their field not only from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but also from Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Belgium, Canada, and Italy. Thus, the participation was truly international and the participants had the opportunity to share experiences with healthcare professionals from all over the world.
In addition to the lectures, the programme included various workshops. AKUTNĚ.CZ contributed with their traditional "How to simply not have a difficult day" workshop. During the introduction, the audience learned about different airway management techniques in adults and children alike or about intraosseous vascular accesses. Afterwards, participants could try out mentioned techniques on mannequins under the mentorship of experienced instructors.
However, the event was not only professional, but also a social opportunity. The organizers prepared three pleasant evenings as an enrichment of the whole event. Their aim was for the attendees to get to know each other, talk over good food and drinks or perhaps dance to live music.
Four intense days passed by very quickly. On behalf of the AKUTNĚ.CZ reporting team, we would like to thank the organizers, speakers, and all participants. We are looking forward to next year's Colours of Sepsis.
