The conference took place on the date of 23. – 27. January 2023. During those five days, the programme was full of interesting blocks of presentations. For example, we had the chance to hear about topics from Cardiology, Immunology, Toxicology, Nutritional support, Transplant Medicine and many others and the lectures were led by experts in their respective fields. It should be noted that the conference had a multicultural attendance, thanks not only to the SepsEast presentation block oriented on Eastern and Central European countries' cooperation in medical research. Therefore, along with the presentations from Czech lecturers, the audience could gain an understanding of complicated topics from speakers coming from Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, Belgium, Hungary, Austria and so forth. We truly appreciate the time and effort they put into turning this conference into such a remarkable success yet again.
After each block of presentations, a space was created for the participants to engage in a facilitated discussion, in order to answer every burning question one may have.
Besides the presentations, visitors additionally had an opportunity to attend many different workshops, practice their skills or try out new ways of performing more common procedures. Especially important for our team was the workshop “Life-Saving Skills - How to avoid having a difficult day”, created in cooperation with our educational portal AKUTNĚ.CZ. The participants had a unique opportunity to acquire a knowledge of not only the relevant theory but primarily the irreplaceable hand on skills explained by the presenting experts.
To balance out the fulfilling educational programme during the days, organizers also prepared a rich social programme. The choice to chat a bit with colleagues or new acquaintances after dinner at the bar never turned into a regret, especially not on Tuesday's Welcome Event. The visitors and lecturers could also unwind a little on Wednesday evening, dancing and listening to a live music show in the Rock and Roll Garage Club Ostrava. There was a Gala Night held on Thursday, which not only included live music but a book launch as well.
And just like that, five days of the conference flew by. Let us thank everybody who participated in making Colours of Sepsis 2023 such a pleasant experience and we can not wait to meet again at The 26th Colours of Sepsis in 2024!
