Although cardiac arrest in pregnancy is rare, it can be really unpleasant situation for every doctor. There are a lot of causes, e.g. cardiac failure, bleeding, coagulation disorder or trauma. In this algoritm you can go through basic and advanced life support of mother with emphasis on specifics in resuscitation in pregnancy according to the 2021 ERC quidelines.
The presented ALS algorithm captures the very rare situation of circulatory arrest in a parturient with its specificities. This situation is at a certain stage of the algorithm very complicated by the need for emergency equipment of the baby and thus very challenging logistics and synchronization of the entire multidisciplinary team. Here more than in other situations, there is no room for any improvisation. The presented algorithm is based on the 2021 ERC recommendations for CPR in pregnancy.
