Burns are still one of the most serious injuries. Despite the progress in surgery, intensive care, pharmacotherapy and nutritional therapy we still have to keep in mind that burns are associated with high mortality and lifelong impairment of the patient.
This alghorithm explains the principles of basic life support, urgent medical care and anaesthetic care for burnt pacients.
Critical thermal trauma represents one of the most difficult injuries you can encounter in clinical practice. Successful therapy is only possible thanks to precise cooperation of many medical specialties. Survival of these patients is determined by many factors, where one of the most important factor is adequate pre-hospital care. This algorithm will briefly guide you through two most critical phases of thermal trauma - the emergent and acute phase. In each section of the algorithm are described the most fundamental parts of the complex medical care of burn patients.
