A frightened neighbour is knocking on a medical student‘s door at 4 a.m. Her 19-year-old daughter has stomach ache and threw up repeatedly. The reaction of the student is:

Without hesitation, the student gives her painkillers - 2x 500 mg Paralen PO or 1x 400 mg Brufen PO. In case of insufficient painrelief the student administers opioid analgetics.
He calls an ambulace immediately. That‘s an emergency situation for sure.
The student calms the mother down, explains that this is a common situation and promises her to see her daughter before lunch.
